Independent Schools of St. Louis - The Most We Can Do For Our Children

Applying to ISSL Catholic High Schools

Twelve of ISSL member schools offer a Catholic education woven through a college preparatory curriculum. Located throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area, these Catholic high schools provide their students opportunities to strengthen their Christian values while challenging their intellect. Their programs allow students to participate in liturgical celebrations and retreats, incorporate prayer into their school day, and follow Christ’s call to serve the poor and marginalized in the community.

While admissions policies for the St. Louis Catholic high schools vary, the following steps are usually part of the application process:

  • The Archdiocesan Catholic high school applications are distributed through Catholic elementary schools and Parish Schools of Religion (PSR) to all eighth graders who wish to apply to a Catholic high school. Students attending public schools, non-Catholic private schools, or those who are home-schooled may obtain an application by calling the high school directly.
  • Each applicant must submit the completed application to his/her current school by November 21, 2012. Upon submission, elementary schools will forward the student’s records, including grades and standardized test scores, to the high school to which the student is applying. Only one set of records for high school admission is prepared for each applicant. If a student is denied admission, his/her records are forwarded to the school listed in the application as an alternate applicant’s high school.
  • A copy of the first semester report card is sent to the high school to which the student has applied by the elementary school principal by January 18, 2013.
  • Letters of acceptance and non-acceptance are mailed to all applicants on February 8, 2013.

Some schools require additional steps such as submission of a school-specific application and/or attending an admissions interview. Parents of prospective students are advised to review the directory of ISSL Member Schools, visit the school websites and/or contact the individual schools for additional information.
